Hi,
I am a public school teacher and my name is Lori Hostetler. I began by teaching over 300 8th graders to juggle over a four year period. Then I was moved to 3rd grade and decided to see if they could learn to juggle. I now have a juggling club of 20+ performers in 3-7th grade. I also have two adult juggling companions. My kids are amazing and have performed in festivals, parades, half-time shows, at hospitals, talent shows, etc.
I am sorry for not checking this sooner. I am a teacher in Greenville, Michigan. I just switched jobs again this year and I am back in 6th grade PE. So my club has moved to the middle school on Thursdays from 2:30-4:00. I have over 50 members now grades 4-10 as well as a college kid I taught years ago and two adults that have taught me a thing or two. We will grow to over 80 next month.
Did you notice a difference in the average speed of learning between the 3rd graders vs. the 8th graders?
Yes, 8th graders pick it up much faster than 3rd graders. Third graders are still growing, and most haven't learned fundamental tossing and catching skills yet. I teach 6th graders now, and they learn almost as quickly as my 8th graders did, but not quite. The fastest learner I ever had was a college athlete. I taught him in 10 minutes to juggle 3 objects for 25+ catches.
