Survey on injuries and pain in juggling.
I received this email, and I thought I'd share it here. This is not my survey, it's Kim's, so contact the email address in the poster image if you have any questions.Dear Madam or Sir,
I am a general practitioner in France and I am conducting a pioneering survey on injuries and pain in juggling. The specific medical problems encountered by jugglers are sometimes poorly identified and misunderstood by medical doctors and are often taken care of with a delay. This may be partly due to the lack of published data on the subject. Our team, made up of doctors and surgeons, one of whom is a juggler himself, wants to improve the medical care of jugglers and propose strategies for treating and preventing injuries, whether they develop gradually or suddenly, and whether or not they are inherent to the juggling practice.
Our study, entitled "Juggling in 2025: injuries and pain", has the following key objectives:
- To learn about juggling practice today.
- To describe the injuries and pain experienced by jugglers.
- To identify factors that contribute to these injuries and those that protect against them.
To ensure the success of this survey, which is aimed at all practitioners, I would need your help:
I have created an online questionnaire that takes about 30 minutes to complete and can be filled out in several sessions. The personal questions are confidential and anonymous and are necessary to identify risk factors and prevention measures. The analysis of all the results will then be presented in my sports medicine thesis, which I can share with you if you wish.
Would you be able to distribute this questionnaire to your team and the members of your organization and participants of conventions, fests and festivals?
All experiences are valuable, and every injury, big or small, is important.
The more participants we have, the more our results will help improve care for jugglers.

This work, supported by the Parisian Juggling Association (Association Parisienne de Jonglerie), is part of the "Live Performances" section of the French national research program on Cultural and Creative Industries (PEPR ICCARE) and I plan to present it publicly to professionals in the field:
- During an acceleration day on "Street Arts" organized by the Esacto'Lido school in Toulouse, France, as part of the 38th Ramonville Street Festival (38e festival de rue de Ramonville) taking place from Friday 12 to Sunday 14 September this year; this event is entitled “Manipulated / Manipulable” (« Manipulé[s] / Manipulable[s] »).
- During the annual French Congress on Sports Medicine and Traumatology taking place from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 September this year in Angers, France.
Please find attached the poster for our survey. Please feel free to share it within your networks and distribute it via various physical and digital media.
A version of the survey in French is also available (upon request).
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your essential contribution to improve knowledge about injuries and pain among jugglers!
Kind regards,
Kim Martinet
Medical student
